If someone mentions "fiat" currency expect to get a roll of overpriced coins jammed somewhere paper currency will feel a whole lot better.

We can argue that governments print too much money, however governments also own assets and have the ability to tax. Something Ponzi schemes do not.

Additionally, we need a universal means of exchange. Unless we are going back to pirate days a means of exchange will probably be represented by paper currency from here on out. The trillions in daily currency transactions required to run the world economy will never be brokered in any crytocurrency including bitcoin until it has the same hedging, liquidity, and exchange protections as traditional currency futures.

Does this mean someone can't own real assets to protect them from an erosion of buying power? Is zinc a real asset, oil, cattle, land, cocoa, a non pyramid business? Dascoin, das never gonna happen.

Quantitative Easing really doesn't change anything. The Feds know how much our money should be worth. We don't lose purchasing power. Steve is a perfect example of how dangerous it is to have a choice in money...

I don't think Lawson does common sense. Bitcoin is about the size of a small to medium company which makes it practical only for smaller transactions on the world stage. As with gold/silver Bitcoin must be converted into "fiat" or held in hopes of future appreciation versus "fiat".
