re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

Derrick Logozzo claims endlessly that there are 20 performing ensembles. He counts really funny!!!!! There are 6 ensembles currently and 3 more that are offered for an 8 week mini-mester starting on October 18. What were formerly Derrick Logozzo's Big Band Jazz, Steel Band and Wind Symphony are on the schedule with TBA for the instructor.

The numbers have dropped in the past few days and now stand at 20 students in Big Band Jazz, 12 in Steel Band and a derisory 16 enrolled in Wind Symphony. Wind Symphony is far less than half the size is has historically been and that it needs to be to perform.

The following private lesson enrollments will not nearly even begin to support the bands offered.
    1000 level (half hour / 1 credit) 2000 level (hour / 2 credit)

    Flute 0 1
    Oboe 0 0
    Bassoon 0 0
    Clarinet 0 1
    Saxophone 1 2
    Trumpet 1 3
    French Horn 0 1
    Trombone 2 1
    Baritone 0 0
    Tuba 0 0

There is good paid vacation time with a week off for holidays throughout the year as well as a week off at both Spring Break and Christmas.

    Cons
The college is currently going through a restructuring process which is causing a lot of problems for students, faculty, and staff. There is a huge shortage in people to assist students since many qualified individuals have been laid off during this restructuring process and staffing open positions has been a very slow process. There is not a sufficient level of transparency for those who work at the college which has created an atmosphere of uncertainty and frustration.

There are just none now... It is unimaginable how something so good has dissolved into a lot of nothing, headed by people who seem not to care and with no compassion or interest in pursuing a necessarily flawed plan.

    Cons
This is the most immoral, unethical place on the planet. The reorg is just about as successful as Joe Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan. The place is a dumpster fire. Student Success is nothing more than social service agency. Faculty are disenfranchised and staff are kicked like they are dogs.

The college presidents and upper administration have no idea who works on their campuses or what is going on as the reorganization put many employees under the 7 schools which in some cases are totally unorganized messes that are still shuffling people around and getting new people in.

There is no organizational chart, so the top brass and everyone else on the planet can't contact or find needed people. It is like a cross county hide and seek as no one knows who is doing what or where they actually are located.

And, the police were called out to Fannin Hall again. The drama and trauma in that department Derrick Logozzo has run into the ground never ends.

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

The Dallas College campuses are covered in TVs. Richland Campus TVs are advertising classes that don't exist, haven't made for years, were removed from the schedule or are only offered on other campuses.
    Attachment 24714

The disgraced Department Chair, Derrick Logozzo, no longer has any classes. Before his name was sanitized from the schedule he placed all of the students in his personal class (Big Band Jazz Ensemble) and all the other ensembles listed were removed from the schedule. Logozzo has destroyed that program and kept students from working with the incredible adjuncts who should have the jazz students. The Fusion Band and the Jazz Combo should be offered going forward. With Derrick Logozzo apparently on his way out the door, he won't be there in the future to trick students into 3-4 ensembles per semester instead of the 1 ensemble per semester that will transfer (4 total for degree and transfer.)
    Attachment 24720

Richland College hasn't offered any of the Recording / Audio Tech classes for years. Those classes and the many associated degrees are exclusively offered at the Cedar Valley Campus. Derrick Logozzo's lies about double majoring in that should have gotten him removed years ago. It is outright fraud to lure students into Richland with programs that do not exist.

Chamber Woodwinds, Chamber Brass and the Richland Percussion Group did not make and with students only allowed to transfer 4 ensemble credits total, they will not likely make in the future. Instrumentalists can transfer Wind Symphony or the String Orchestra, but not likely the small groups.
    Attachment 24718

Melissa Logan left in July. Opera Workshop has not been offered for several years. Voice class will not transfer for Music majors. It is supposed to be built into the private voice lessons as a studio class. Community members might like the voice class described in the course catalogue that is for beginners.

These TVs everywhere are a waste of money and the stuff going up is garbage. Enough!IMG_0240.jpgIMG_0233.jpgIMG_0245.jpgIMG_0235.jpg

Derrick Logozzo is a liar and fraud. He placed students into 3-4 ensembles in each Fall and Spring semester when only 4 total will transfer (1 per semester for 4 semesters is the norm at real music schools and what is on the degree plans.) He put students in 3-7 hours of MUAP (lessons) each semester when only 8 credits total will transfer (2 credits per semester in the same instrument for 4 semesters as the degree plans require.) Logozzo placed students into Fundamentals of Music Theory which is not a college level course and that will not transfer but did eat up 6-8 credit hours.

Shockingly, Logozzo put students in almost no core classes which left them trapped at Richland for years on end. That is how students end up with 100-161 hours when only 66 maximum will transfer. Logozzo put students into out of state tuition (150 credit hour rule) at their own Texas Universities(which financial aid does not cover) and exhausted most or all of their financial aid (90 credit hours at Richland and 180 at 4 year university.)

Logozzo has totaled misrepresented the program all along. He lied to lure in adjuncts and students. Adjuncts on every instrument known to man were promised a viable teaching load. 130 some odd students doesn't give multiple adjuncts teaching violin, viola, cello, double bass, electric bass, bassoon, oboe, clarinet, sax, flute, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, drum set, percussion, piano and voice a reasonable number of students. Many adjuncts have 0 or 1 student. Some adjuncts have a small handful. Who wants to drive for 2 hours to teach a couple of students?

The students lured in were placed dozens and dozens of hours of classes that used up their financial aid and put them in out of state tuition (150 credit hours) in order to create the illusion that Richland had a viable, growing program. Many of the students Logozzo lured into the program would never have been admitted to a real music school as they do not have the background, training or talent to succeed. Now, that the predatory advising, subterfuge and the horrifically low number of students actually graduating with Bachelor's Degrees has been exposed, the program is collapsing. 130 students can only fill 20 performing ensembles if they are put in 4 credits instead of the 1 they should be in.

There have never been anywhere close to 600 music enrollments. Logozzo forcing students to take 4 times the number of credits of music classes that will transfer doesn't magically turn those 130 students into 600 students.

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

So, Logozzo claimed 600 music enrollments and hired armies of adjuncts when these were the real numbers:
    2009SP 80
    2009S1 26
    2009S2 21
    2009FA 113
    2010SP 104
    2010S1 39
    2010S2 31
    2010FA 125
    2011SP 124
    2011S1 52
    2011S2 33
    2011FA 129
    2012SP 123
    2012S1 56
    2012S2 32
    2012FA 139
    2013SP 124
    2013SU 61
    2013FA 134
    2014SP 135
    2014SU 77
Several adjuncts have 0 students. There are no bassoon, oboe, tuba, double bass and euphonium players at all. Many other instruments have only a single player. Logozzo has 7 voice teachers leaving 3 of them with no students and the other 4 with only a few students each. There are 6 guitar teachers and 2 have no students the rest have just a few students. 7 piano teachers are on staff with again only 1 to a few students each. These highly qualified adjuncts travel great distances to serve these students.

Logozzo's program was DOA and his dirty advising has just sunk it like the Titanic. This is a tragedy for the students and the adjuncts who were lured into a program boasting 600 music enrollments. Logozzo's come on ads he posted online stated work approaching 19.5 hours a week and linked the lie-filled music department video he had the college produce. Those come on ads were for instruments that have no students taking lessons at all! These Richland adjuncts have been defrauded!

Hush money. Dirty advising. Dallas College, a publicly funded entity is run in a shroud of lies and secrecy. Now, the hundreds of employees canned in the absolutely disastrous re-organization are being pushed into signing NDAs. I demand Dr. May be fired immediately and the transparency that is paramount to running a tax dollar funded institution be restored.

A drunk driver hit a Northeast Police Department vehicle early Sunday morning right after a separate Northeast police officer arrested another DWI suspect, police said.

One Northeast officer was helping another Northeast officer with a DWI traffic stop in the 5100 block of East University Drive in Denton along U.S. 380 around 4 a.m., police said. The first officer left the scene after arresting a suspect.

The second officer stayed to finish doing an inventory of the drunk driver's car that was being towed. That officer got back into his police vehicle when the vehicle was hit from behind by a drunk driver who didn't have his headlights on, Northeast police said.

No injuries were reported in the crash. Northeast police said that "all parties in the crash received medical attention and were released."

The Denton Police Department responded to help the Northeast officer involved in the crash. After conducting a field sobriety test on 28-year-old Pedro Castro-Gonzalez, who admitted to having three beers, Denton police arrested Castro-Gonzalez on a DWI charge and took him to the Denton jail after he consented to providing a blood sample.

A Northeast Police Officer was assisting another NEPD officer on a Traffic Stop, along US HWY 380, where an arrest for DWI was made.
After the initial officer left the scene with his DWI arrest, our second officer and his patrol unit were struck by another intoxicated driver.
The officer that was hit had just completed an inventory of the vehicle that was being towed related to the first DWI arrest. Our officer had just entered his patrol unit, when the second impaired driver, who was driving without headlights, struck the back of the police vehicle.
Thankfully, our officer was inside his vehicle and the patrol unit was appropriately positioned.
The patrol vehicle that was struck, was parked providing protection for a tow-truck driver, who was loading the vehicle involved in the original stop.
All parties in the crash received medical attention and were released.
The crash investigation and (second) DWI arrest was conducted by the City of Denton Police Department.

The taxpayers put this student through 3 years at Collin College (they kick students out after 3 years) and then years of more nonsense credit to nowhere at Dallas College Richland Campus. He was not a legitimate student here abiding by the terms of his Visa. He was working under the table for cash. He wasn't paying taxes. Now, the taxpayers have a totaled Police car and court case to fund as well.

Derrick Logozzo put him in as a music major to fill a chair and get money into his department. This student could barely read music and was not doing anything but milking the stay here on a student Visa to party. After this crash, the Student Government of Richland kept him in office as Treasurer.

The man who destroyed the Dallas College Richland Campus with his dirty advising is now working for Kilgore College 2 hours away. He is apparently directing the bands and teaching percussion in the two sections listed. He has no percussion students registered. He is not listed as one of the two persons authorized to advise students on the department pages or the college proper pages that list the advisors for the college as a whole. He should not ever be in a position to advise students in any capacity with his record and Kilgore College obviously takes following degree plans seriously as all colleges must.

Derrick Logozzo's encore to running Richland College's Music Department into the ground with his lies and subterfuge is this embarrassing solicitation. Why any college would not thoroughly research candidates and avoid hiring someone with his reputation is quite the mystery. Now, Lobozzo is asking music professional to work $35 dollars per hour for lessons? That is $20 an hour less than Dallas College's pay which has been increased to $55 an hour. And, $1800 per class is beyond insulting. $2,324 is the pay at Dallas College (the institution that sent Derrick Logozzo packing.) Folks with a Master's Degree and extensive performing experience aren't going to drive hours a week to teach a class or 1 to perhaps a few lessons a week for a 15 week semester for a guy with his sullied reputation offering that paltry pay.

Derrick Logozzo claimed 400-600 music students at Richland when there were actually only 120 or less as an open records request docs shows. Bragging about 100 students at Kilgore may be an exaggeration as well and even if that number is accurate that would mean very few students per teacher with strings, percussion, winds and brass students included. Not to mention in most quality programs there are many students in the music department that are pursuing other majors and only participate in a single ensemble and nothing more.

Dallas College Music is sadly going to pay the price for Derrick Logozzo's shenanigans for years to come. So many students have been irreparably harmed.

Re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

The Dallas College Music Departments are simply imploding due to mismanagement.

Faculty Full-Time - Music job with Dallas College | 37482938

    The Chronicle of Higher Educationhttps://jobs.chronicle.com › job › faculty-full-time-mu...
Jun 26, 2023 — Dallas College seeks an enthusiastic faculty member to help expand the Music program at the El Centro campus in downtown Dallas.

The music program at Dallas College Richland Campus with the notable exceptions of the incredible string and jazz band components have completely collapsed. Yet, those in charge, who have obviously not looked at the enrollment for the past decades as I have analyzed here, keep trying to expand the offerings. Registration started in February and now with only 6 weeks left of regular registration for fall classes (registration ends on August 16th) this is current enrollment in the ensembles across all 7 campuses. The music departments at Northlake, Moutainview and El Centro need to be dissolved except for Music Appreciation classes that are part of the Core Curriculum. Many of these ensembles will not make. Students majoring in music need these classes as they must have 4 credits to graduate and to transfer if they go on. These canceling at the last minute leaves students in a bind. They can't move all their other classes at that point because many classes filled months ago. Why offer classes that have not made before and have little chance of making now? These programs need to be consolidated and given the support from the college to thrive.

Re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

Derrick Logozzo has completely decimated yet another music program. 2 students in Music Theory II and 1 enrolled in Music Theory IV classes that have already started shows that the program is completely dead.
