Thread: Glad to find another anti-scam site

Hello all,

I've been around the block a time or two and see a few familiar names here.

Congrats on creating a nice resource for those who want to bring the myriad of scams out there to light.

Personally, I burned out for a while from fighting the good fight. It's never ending.

Your comment raises a very important point.

ANYONE involved in a "caring" field owes it to themselves to learn and practice the art of "detachment"

Some people, particularly the recently scammed tend to criticize forums such as this for appearing to be hardened, even uncaring.

IM(very)HO, nothing could be further than the truth, particularly here on REALSCAM.com

However, a burned out carer is no good to anyone else, much less themselves.

Tough to detach when you see some of the damage these things can do.

I think I just got in too deep rallying against one particular scam. Too many hours put in over too long of a period of time. :)

Welcome to RS "surfer." Memories of how thing used to happen five years ago are very valuable indeed. Many of the best scam busters did not appear until 2006, so those of us who were "surfing" before that date can talk about the past and say a few things which could be very useful to Internet Historians. I started my surfing career with Adlandpro in 2003 and thought it was full of caring people. Some were and I am still in contact with them. Adlandpro stayed beneath the radar for years but the truth is coming out now.

The important thing is to let people know that it is perfectly safe to speak out about those who threaten to sue you or reveal your past indescretions. We had to learn and made mistakes along the way. I did not join scam.com and have no wish to do so. Your imput about the place could be very informative.

Welcome aboard surfer! I understand too well about getting very involved. My heart is with every victim and our family has reached out to some of them, but we can't help them all and that makes it so tough.
