A SIGHTSEER has captured bizarre footage on a Sunshine Coast beach of a car emerging from foam caused by ex-tropical cyclone Oswald.
The footage – which has been shared tens of thousands of times on social networking sites in less than 24 hours – caught two police officers jumping to safety after a car emerged from under a blanket of foam.

Sunshine Coast man Michael Bell told News Limited he had taken his sister down to the foreshore to see the foam phenomenon when the car appeared.

"I'd been through there about an hour before and took my sister down to have a look," he said.
"It was unbelievable. We walked down there just as they were closing the road. That car was probably parked under the foam and they'd had to drive it out."

Mr Bell said two police officers were standing on the road, helping to close it down, as a bus approached.

"We just thought the bus was pushing a wave of foam – we didn't even know the car was there," he said.
"It was a shock to everyone. Luckily the police officers managed to get out of the way. I showed the footage to the two officers and the one who pushed the other out of the way thought he was pretty famous."

Mr Bell said he posted the video thinking a few friends would find it entertaining.

"I'm a novice at all this," he said.

"I didn't realise so many people would see it. I just thought it would be cool to show a few friends."

He said strong winds had whipped up even more foam along the beachfront since he took the video yesterday.

"I have never seen anything like that – although apparently today it is about six times worse," Mr Bell said.

"The area where we were standing yesterday is now completely covered. It's pretty intense."
