China TESOL & TEFL Certificate Requirement Fraud Alert For Foreign ESL Teachers

    1603996097.jpg

Someone open opened up a billion dollar can of worms at an ESL forum about the China job applicants being told by dodgy recruiters, shady job agents, and TEFL training "consultants" that you absolutely "MUST" have a tefl or tesol certificate to teach in China. But the facts are beginning to surface and we now know these bottom feeders are just lying to sell people their TEFL and TESOL courses, which by the way are not cheap. See the Below links for details and the excerpt I took from another site.

What is real truth about China teacher TESOL & TEFL certificate requirements?- eChinacities Answers | echinacities

The other problem I found is that only two TEFL & TESOL companies issue certificates that ere even recognized and accepted by China, Korea, Japan, etc. Most all the certificates being sold are worthless scraps of paper that are only accepted in countries nobody wants to teach (Haiti, El Salvador, Mali, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Somalia, etc.)

SPREAD THE WORD TO ANY TEACHER FRIENDS YOU MAY HAVE THAT WANT TO GO TEACH IN CHINA!

"Due to all the spam email and Skype calls I get offering me jobs to teach in China "IF" I buy the "mandatory" TEFL or TESOL training that is allegedly "required" by the Chinese government", I started doing research and sending of emails to various Chinese ministries including to SAFEA, the Chinese government agency that regulates the employment of foreign employees in China.

They took over a month to reply but I finally got a response from the SAFEA director's office that says in part...

"There has never been any legal or other requirement for foreign teachers to have neither a TEFL nor TESOL certificate to teach in China. Unfortunately a few unethical job recruiters and companies that sell TEFL & TESL training have been telling teachers otherwise"

He also went on to confirm...

"The current and only legal requirements for a foreigner to work in China are the
    following:

    1. Bachelor degree from any accredited university
    2. Minimum of 21 years of age
    3. Two years prior work experience
    4. Fluency in the English language
    5. Police certificate confirming no criminal record
    6. A valid passport and work visa (Z visa)"

Based on the above correspondence and similar confirmations at nine various ESL forums and message boards, it is safe to conclude that hundreds of people are being duped on a daily basis by the sales reps of 19 TEFL training companies. If you get told these lies about "Mandatory" TEFL or TESOL certificates that you "must" have to teach in China, post your experience here in this thread with the name of the company and what they told you.

If you still have doubts about this, you can contact your own embassy, the Chinese embassy or SAFEA directly at ????? Please help stop the deceit and tell your teacher friends about this expensive fraud. People are being pressured to buy expensive TEFL and TESOL courses from $99 to $4,999 by people who will say anything to make a sale."

GET OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION OF THE ABOVE FROM YOUR OWN EMBASSY OR www.SAFEA.gov.cn
