I once made the terrible, terrible mistake of recommending Adam Horwitz's Local Mobile Monopoly. I never liked the guy, but after researching the data he was presenting on my own, everything seemed to make sense. There are specific procedures that have to be followed to get campaigns approved through the carriers (many campaign flows are pre-approved) and the optin rules are based on similar principles as email marketing.
Two problems:
1. Adam Horwitz.
2. I finally found MUCH better information available for much less in "Mobile Marketing For Dummies" and in the free DMA Mobile Primer on the subject.
Also, did I mention Adam Horwitz.
Now we have two "champs" working together. If you haven't listened to the full-length and very disturbing boiler-room recording of one of Anthony Morrison's sales reps, I strongly suggest anyone considering dealing with Morrison listen to it here:
Scamming Two Debbies.
The boiler room script can be read here: Anthony Morrison Television Internets.
