Rebecca's China ESL Scam Continues As New Life ESL With David Valley

Anyone teaching in China for at least a year knows about China ESL and all seven of their former alias names (Total ESL, China Groove, China Express, Dominics ESL Café, etc.) and know the following China ESL MO as well:

1- Uses three names and websites (that I know of) to recruit teachers (China ESL, Total ESL, and now NEW LIFE ESL) If you are legit you only need one right?

2- Tells her agents and staff to only use their "English" names or a fake Chinese name like "Michelle Zhang" the recruiter who hooked me.

3- Tells her staff to only meet with teacher prospects at the KFC, UBS, or Costa Coffee close to the Xidan subway station - and never bring them to here office that has 8 company names listed next to the door.

4- Uses a contract that openly tells the teacher they "will be blacklisted" if they quit or cause problems.

5- Do not give the teachers a copy of their contracts unless they refuse to work without receiving it.

6- Do not put chops (corporate seals) on their contracts

7- Business cards of their recruiters have no addresses - only disposable free email addresses and a mobile phone number, and not even a logo!

8- Why they only talk about visas on the phone and never in an email (the email would be evidence they are telling people to break the law)

9- Why teachers NEVER get the job that was advertised and which they applied for? These people are the bait and switch champions of China.

10- Why they never denied the accusations that their former employee "Becky" made in the thread started by "Bannoy" at thebeijinger.com or the one at fraudwatchers (Becky says that Rebecca hires a hacker to delete complaints on line or offers to advertise more ads on forums if the negative posts are deleted).

BUT WAIT! There is now allegedly a "new owner" of China ESL - a foreigner named David Valley who claims all the problems of the last eight years including the 1,200+ expat teachers who asked the China Minister of Justice to arrest and prosecute Dr. Rebecca Tang, were caused by one unnamed Chinese HR girl who he fired! (He makes this claim at eslwatch.info) Yet China Scam Patrol has confirmed that the government licensing bureau of Beijing (SAIC) insists that as of yesterday, Dr. Rebecca Tang remains the sole owner of the company. David Valley is just another foreign front man being used as was Craig Hill last year (It seems foreign teachers will believe another foreigner and not Chinese). David Valley is a traitor to every expat in China and every foreigner now seeking work in China. If you believe him or any of the fake reviews, you will end up like the people below...

This is Derrick and I'm one of the owners of New Life ESL. This thread is completely inaccurate. We have no relation to China ESL. We do not work with Rebecca Tang, and we don't have any idea who David Valley is.

We are an independent recruiting agency owned by three Americans and have zero connections to these people. Please do not post inaccurate information about our company. I have no idea where you go this nonsense from, but it's not correct.

We have a bunch of reviews from teachers we've placed on our FB page, YouTube testimonial videos, and a whole bunch of teachers that would be happy to talk to any new applicants about who we are and what we do. Stop posting lies please.

I can be contacted directly at Derrick@NewLifeESL.com if you want to speak to me about any of this. Thanks!

Okay Derrick then please explain the following:

    1. https://newlifeeslscam.wordpress.com/

    2. New Life ESL is not licensed in China to do business according to SAIC - the official licensing bureau in China.

    3. SAFEA says they never heard of New Life ESL and ditto for the CFTU

Post a copy of your business license and office address online here and I will ask my friends in Beijing to go visit and verify anything you want to present that you are legitimate. BTW... David Valley and Craig Hill also vehemently denied they were working with Rebecca for months before documentation and witnesses proved otherwise. So of course, nobody would expect you to admit you are working for or with China ESL.

I hope you don't believe that the person that wrote that is qualified to teach English to anyone. That blog post wouldn't pass elementary level English. LoL

    Besides, at the bottom it says;
I will come back soon to post all the proofs: contracts, plane tickets, emails, china visa…
The article is dated 12JUN2014, two months ago.
Still no proof (or proofs) as yet.

Odd, per the Wall Street Journal and Wiki, SAIC is a China-based automaker.

I take that to mean that they don't send anyone to China. They recruit individuals in the US and then forward them to other companies.

And as already pointed out by Niksam in this post and myself in this post CFTU is likely a scam in itself.

Looks like your friends are most likely going to have to travel to Mesa, Arizona in the US to do that.

    1) This is a free WordPress site that absolutely anyone could put up in a matter of minutes and the person has HORRIBLE English skills and doesn't even supply a real name. This is clearly not someone who would ever be hired to teach English in China. If you choose to believe this over the dozens of reviews we have from real teachers we've placed on our FB page, video testimonials we have on our YouTube, and the many teachers we have that are more than willing to talk to new applicants about our service - then I don't know what to tell you. This page appears to us to have been put up by a competitor trying to damage our reputation, perhaps someone linked to you? I have no idea who you are and you even managed to spell my name completely incorrectly on your post on another website, so I don't think you have any idea who I am or what my company actually does either.

    2) We are a business registered in Hong Kong. We recruit people from all over the world and send them over to schools we trust and work with in China. These schools are licensed and have all the appropriate documentation necessary that teachers can verify.

    3) We do not have a physical office. As I said, we work with people all over the world and the only way to do this is using Skype and other tools of the modern world. This is the way ESL recruiting is done in many markets throughout the world and it's not unique to our business.

I tried to research David Valley and Craig Hill online and I can't find any trace of them. On the other hand, we use our real names, our real Skype handles, and I regularly talk to teachers on my personal FB page. We aren't hiding anything here, so you can stop the witch hunt now. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this link. Now at least I know who this guy is that apparently works for the company I own.

Once again, New Life ESL has absolutely nothing to do with China ESL, David Valley, or Rebecca Tang.

Re: Rebecca's China ESL Scam Continues As New Life ESL With David Valley

A domain registration doesn't have anything to do with a business registration. We are not a registered company in Arizona, or America. Our business name is New Life ESL, and our incorporation in HK is still in process, so I can't provide you with an incorporation number just yet.

We have been operating as an LLC for the past year while starting up, as a lot of new businesses do, but we're going through the incorporation process in HK now. Again, I understand you wanting to double check on our company and the process we go through if you're thinking of using us to find a job in China, but what I don't understand is the outrageous claims that we are China ESL, that I or anyone at my company is David Valley, or that we have any connection to Rebecca Tang. We've put all of our personal information on our website and are very easy to check out. We also do Skype calls with every teacher that applies on our website so they can talk with us directly and ask us as many questions as they like. We also always provide information to contact teachers that we've placed so that people can speak with teachers directly, rather than trusting some horribly written WP site that was likely posted by a competitor of ours that's trying to make us look bad.

Question Re: Rebecca's China ESL Scam Continues As New Life ESL With David Valley

Okay Derrick, many people including myself would agree that the domain registration has little to do with your business registration and license so that is not an issue to me. BUT, you yourself just admitted that you have been operating illegally in China WITHOUT a license since June of 2013 and only NOW - AFTER you have been questioned publicly are you seeking a license in Hong Kong. This smells and looks bad Derrick. Hopefully you have some plausible explanation? Why should a teacher trust someone who is not licensed to do business in China?

By the way, for the other fellow who defended you and said SAIC is a car maker in Detroit, I think he and anyone else reading this thread should read this blurb about why the SAIC is important in China-

Finding An Honest Agent Or Recruiter In China - Mission Impossible? - ESLwatch - Information, News and School Reviews

So let's say you are not another China ESL alias. Who are you then? You claim a lot of transparency, so can you publish your office address in China here and the real legal names of the owners? Can you complete and publish the agent reply form attached without leaving empty blanks?

To be fair, I contacted the CFTU about you and they admitted that they only had received one complaint against you but the party who filed it left China and said she would post something on her own. But then again, you are fairly new so I don't expect to see many complaints until the new school year begins. I honestly hope you are not connected with China ESL, but don't expect teachers to trust you only because you are a fellow foreigner when you have no business license. BTW... where and when was your LLC filed and can you give us an online link to those records? The guy who posted the Word Press allegation speaks for himself so I will not.

So can you address the above Derrick and put this form online for us to see and verify for ourselves? Where are you physically at - Beijing? Newark? Arizona? and can you give a link to your Facebook or Linked Page so we can learn more about you. The information provided on your web site is very limited. And since you ask us for copies of our passports, can you please post your own. This way if you do turn out to be a scam artist, it will be easy for the police to find the right guy and not David Valley or Craig Hill right? Thank you for your cooperation Derrick Yazwa, and hopefully that is also your real legal name that appears on your passport?

Here is the form I am talking about -

"In previous jobs, I've had to deal with Chinese parents who have the mentality of 'White is right,' " said Benjamin Newbry, associate director of the Princeton Review test-preparation company in Shanghai, who is white.

Re: Rebecca's China ESL Scam Continues As New Life ESL With David Valley

Excuse me sir NoMaxim... I can read and what Derrick said was a blatant lie...

"2) We are a business registered in Hong Kong. We recruit people from all over the world and send them over to schools we trust and work with in China. These schools are licensed and have all the appropriate documentation necessary that teachers can verify."

He clearly said that he was registered in Hong Kong, but when questioned further about it by user "Beacon" he changed his tune and admitted he is only now "in the process" of applying for a license - more than a year after he started doing business ILLEGALLY in China. He then claimed he is operating under an LLC but provided no details and has not responded to my request to tell us about that LLC with a link that can be verified. BTW... as of yesterday, New Life ESL is still not registered in Hong Kong nor any other part of China. So for more than a year he has been running an unlicensed business recruiting teachers for China positions, telling teachers to come work on China illegally on an L visa (totally illegal). His operation violates Chinese law and he is helping unwitting foreign teachers break the law as well. You defend this operation?

Another question you just reminded me to ask is how does he "verify" all the schools are properly licensed before he sends teachers to work there from Phoenix Arizona. Who is his contact from SAFEA that keeps tabs to make sure schools have the expensive license and "registered capital" needed to sponsor foreign workers with a "Z visa". Derrick, if you are reading this, please tell me who you deal with at the SAFEA office so I can confirm independently. Also since you claim to be "transparent" can you please post a copy of your 2013 corporate tax returns for NEW LIFE ESL Derrick? I sent an email today to the IRS asking them to confirm that NEW LIFE ESL is even assigned a TAXPAYER ID NUMBER. Should I be surprised when they tell me that they also never heard of NEW LIFE ESL? (If I am wrong I will publicly apologize on this thread) Thank you in advance for your transparency Derrick. I await your reply on the issues of:

    1) YOUR CURRENT CHINA REGISTRATION TODAY

    2) WHO IS YOUR SAFEA CONTACT?

    3) WHAT IS YOUR LLC REGISTRATION NUMBER AND WHERE?

    4) WHAT IS THE IRS ID TAXPAYER NUMBER FOR NEW LIFE ESL?

    5) WHO ARE BRENDA GIBSON AND VERONICA WEINTRAUB?

BTW... According to the State of Arizona, there is no New Life ESL registered nor licensed to do business and the U.S. State Department did not authorize him to operate as a resident foreign agent, so he may be violating U.S. laws as well. The bottom line is the guy lied straight to our face when he had a chance to rebut the allegations about being registered/licensed in China, with his false claim of being registered in Hong Kong. With what is happening these days in China with identity thieves, there are people out here that will check every agent and recruiter that pops up on the internet. Not all the fraudsters operating China job frauds are Chinese you know.

Re: Rebecca's China ESL Scam Continues As New Life ESL With David Valley

What exactly does the term "registered business" mean in this context ??

My local lunch bar is a "registered business" and has a certificate on the wall to prove it.

To take it a step further, virtually every HYIP ponzi fraud on the usual suspect HYIP ponzi forums claims to be a "registered business"

Registering a business is a relatively cheap and simple matter and proves nothing when it comes to checking the bona fides of a business which requires permits and licenses to operate in a specific country or industry.

Re: Rebecca's China ESL Scam Continues As New Life ESL With David Valley

For anyone who is questioning whether or not New Life is involved with China ESL or that guy David, I have proof they are not because I've been working with them for several months trying to find a job in China. I don't go out of my way to do reviews, but the amount of patience New Life has given me over the last few months has been so helpful that I can't really watch you guys get away with accusing them of this.

Here is my "conversation" with David Valley:
    Valley Convo.jpg
He attached a contract only after receiving one email from me and here it is, keep in mind this is a contract I'd be signing with HIS agency, not a school:

Shortly after I emailed China ESL my photo and that's it. She responded with the EXACT same contract as David Valley, only with a different name:

You can see everything is the same and neither of the two "different" agencies wanted anything from me besides a signature.
Here is my most recent conversation with Monica:
    New Life ESL Convo.jpg
She scheduled a time to go over the contract with me after months of looking.
Here is the contract with the SCHOOL she sent me:
    Shanghai Contract Emma Johnson.jpg
I blocked out the school name for good reason. You can see here I am signing a contract with a school and NOT an agency. Monica got me in touch with previous teachers and helped me go through the whole contract.

There is so much wrong with this thread and other reviews out there. New Life ESL DOES NOT make you sign with them. They introduce you to schools who give you contracts.
I've been explained to how they make money and both Monica and Derrick have explained how they get paid on other threads.

If you have time to check out their site which clearly states all of their names and background, go to it now. There is no such thing as a Derrel Yazwa, Brenda Gibson, or Veronica Weintraub. Your lack of even getting their names correct clearly shows how poorly you have researched them.

**UPDATE: Paint X was used to block out certain names and phone numbers.

But I can find No NEWLIFE company which seems similar here:

And per Maricopa County Assessor's Office | Assessor Paul D. Petersen the address in the WhoIs is the parents house.
Other public records suggest Brendan's age is 29 and has a work history that includes Bank of America.

Assuming this isn't a case of ID theft, of course.

Thanks Emma for your comments. as you have been several months can you supply some information?
1 What jobs have you been offered with what schools?
2 With whom in those schools have you been in contact?
3 What is Monica's second name and her background experience in this field?
4 Same as 3 for david.
5 With respect to the contract what currency is RMB?
5 The income tax of 1000 per month - 12 000 per year (one ninth of gross salary) payable on a base salary of 9000 per month =108000 per year
is being paid to what state tax authority?
6 If new life "does not make you sign with them" what is the contract with "China ESL" for - or the one with Valley?
Here is my "conversation" with David Valley:

    He attached a contract ...

Ii.e. a signature and personal information on a CONTRACT you claimed they didn't require! You seem to be contradicting yourself.
You can see here I am signing a contract with a school and NOT an agency.
Yes when you already posted TWO ADDITIONAL contracts with Valley and Monica?
Monica got me in touch with previous teachers and helped me go through the whole contract.
Great! what are the names of these teachers and in what scholls did they work and for how long?
There is so much wrong with this thread and other reviews out there. New Life ESL DOES NOT make you sign with them. They introduce you to schools who give you contracts.
But above you posted TWO contracts from Valley and Monica BEFORE you posted the contract with the schools? Please explain that.
I've been explained to how they make money and both Monica and Derrick have explained how they get paid on other threads.
Since it has been explained to you can you tell us in your own words how they make money? And why do they need a contract with you which you post and then claim does not exist?
If you have time to check out their site which clearly states all of their names and background, go to it now. There is no such thing as a Derrel Yazwa, Brenda Gibson, or Veronica Weintraub.
    I checked it out
    About - New Life ESL
    It lists
Please allow us to introduce ourselves:
    Derrick Yazwa
    Email: Derrick@NewLifeESL.com

    Brendan Gibson
    Email: Brendan@NewLifeESL.com

    Monica Weintraub
    Email: Monica@NewLifeESL.com
The link you offer as evidence lists the above people.
It is a bit like the contracts you posted and then claimed don't exist!

I think maybe you are in denial ~ and I don't mean the River

Your lack of even getting their names correct clearly shows how poorly you have researched them.

Well I think I have reproduced the names as listed.

Monica only says she had an apprenticeship at "AmeriCorps". ther is nothing about her backround in education or anywhere else.
Derrick lists he worked with two major IT companies for over ten years. He neither names the companies or says ANY of the experience or jobs he had with them.
Brendan Gibson lists Bank of America Home loans. Exactly wher he does not say and what he did there he does not say.

None of them list any prior experience management or educational qualifications.

    Okay

Valley Organization, employment agency toronto, teach english in china
    About the founder:

David Valley was born in Toronto, Canada and from a very young age had a great fascination with Chinese culture and language. By the age of 15, he spoke Cantonese very well and at age 21, Mandarin followed.
Good for him. Where in Toronto?
    Is he a Canadian citizen?
Does he still have family there?
What school did he go to?
This eventually led him completing his post secondary education, majoring in East Asian studies, specializing in Mandarin Chinese, with a minor in ESL development.
WHERE did he do this third level qualification?
What is ESL development and what specifically did he study for this?
When was his qualification awarded and what was it?
From there, David has continued to move forward and offers one and all the chance of a lifetime - to work and develop a successful career in China.
In what was has he moved forward?
    What additional qualifications?
    What business experience?
What business records show any company expanding or generating profit?
