The Legend of the Chess board and the Grain of Rice

Ever wondered why people say recruitment based MLMs don't work and why pyramid schemes are illegal ??

Bravo! Closely associated with that is the school exercise where if given you choice of wages, you choose 1 penny the first day and doubled every subsequent day. The result after 30 days is about $10.5 million.

Thias is just brilliant! I have never seen this before. I love illustrations/analogies that simple, yet so correct and precise.

The "math" in MLMs is remarkable in it's complete lack of common sense. It's amazing to me that they always use the same types of graphs to explain how "simple" it os to make x amount of riches using the duplicate method. The only members who get beyond a level or two are the Directors and owners who have all the members in their downlines. It is impossible for any single member to ever attain these numbers. This is one of the main reasons that you are doomed so to speak in any MLM before you even begin. Youwill never be able to recruit enough people and have those recruits do the same. Nor will you have enough people who are even successful at peddling over-hyped, overpriced, phony products. The Leaders will happily present these charts at presentations, rah rah meetings, conventions and various recruiting events and people will just sit there and smile or become all raved up like they could actually achieve this! Amazing!

It's the impossible math of endless and unattainable chains of marks and the endless recruitment of those who cannot work the program, cannot recruit and those who simply drop out. What's worse is those who fail (95% of them!) are told that it's their own fault! So what do they do? Move on to the next MLM in the hopes that this program will suit them better and they will succeed. It is simply impossible to avoid the build in failure mechanisim of MLMs unless you are at the top of the Pyramid and even then, the vast majority of all MLMs will fail and be abandoned for the next "new" MLM. This is why you constantly see the serial owners/founders and serial heavy recruitment hitters moving from one scam to the next as these floportunities run their course and are milked dry.

Let's suppose that you are to get ten people who can get ten people onto your team and so on. At just three levels, this is 1,000 people! At six levels that is 1,000,000 people! And yet people are told in meeting how easily attainable this is! So besides saturation at some point, what about those who cannot sell the product well or cannot constantly recruit and their recruits cannot do the same?
