I wonder why it is, dying ponzis are always having problems with paying their members, but never with members paying them.

I was only able to get about 16 minutes of this fireside chat and am still wondering what in the heck was the purpose of this video? I can't imagine anyone sitting through almost 30 minutes of this drivel that isn't a die hard MAPster.

From memory, it was a unilateral decision on the part of My Advertising Pays "management" to drop the US portion of their business, supposedly because it was no longer profitable.

The general consensus amongst observers of the HYIP ponzi "scene"is the dropping of over 25% of its' membership base was a last ditch attempt to overcome the inevitable cash flow problems caused by a dramatic drop in new signups.

It should be remembered, despite MAP management claims at the time, US members are either not being paid, or are being trickle fed their "earnings", leaving them in limbo.

They are reluctant to complain, in case the "trickle" stops, Meanwhile, MAP can claim they ARE being "paid" albeit at a reduced rate.

As for the rest of the MAPpets, they couldn't give a damn what happens to US members, as long as they are being "paid"

I find it incredible that many participants in these "schemes" claim that "It can't be a ponzi scheme because I am being paid".

Or that they know someone who has a "steady income stream" from such a scheme. Or that although they aren't taking any money out, that's their choice because they want to get to a certain "income level".

It's all very tiresome.

I'm not aware that anyone here has said that no-one involved in MAPs (and similar schemes) ever gets paid. Indeed, I am quite sure that some people, many people, do get money out of it, especially in the early stages and especially if they are big promoters. The issue I have is knowing from where they are getting paid. This is something that does not seem to bother many of the participants in such schemes. They see the pound signs and that's it.

So, may I quote the example of dear departed Banners Broker? This was a similar scheme that everyone in it defended, and said was genuine, real, paying out.
People who questioned it were called haters, accused of not understanding the so-called business model, of promoting rival ventures, of being jealous of seeing others succeed, etc etc etc. However, as we know, Banners Broker has folded, the receivers are in, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are involved, and the two founders, Chris Smith and Raj Dixit, have been up in court in Canada.

What's more, the receivers have tracked down something like $120 million raised by Banners Broker. Of this they say £45 million was paid out to participants. Generous, hmm?? Except that left a very handy £75 million that was not paid out, that was salted away in off shore accounts, invested in property and goodness knows what else. They gave back something like 37% of what they made - and kept the rest.

I do not believe that people starting schemes are doing it for the good of their health, or for the benefit of the common man. My honest belief is that they are in it for themselves. If they pay any money out, they do so because they have to, to reel more people in.

And that's it.
