When MLMers are forced to tell the truth

Many people are unaware of the existence of new Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations under which MLM companies and others who make income claims are now required to provide full disclosure in substantiation of such claims.

What happens when companies comply with the new laws is probably not what your potential upline told you when he or she was trying to recruit you:

How can you get the 'truth' out of anyone involved in MLM's pray tell? They would find a way around it but I can think of a few that need reporting.

OOPS! I can think of a few people over at scum dot com who are going to have a hard time if they comply with the FTC requirements. Did anyone say Doyle, Kerry or Lemons?

Re: When MLMers are forced to tell the truth

I did my first MLM when I was fourteen. It worked because the product was a much coveted pair of nylon stockings. My school Matron taught us how to manage your "downline." I got four of five pairs but my mother and sister lost their money. Luckily we shared what we had.

Matron checked our trunks when we arrived on the first day of term and the parents who had remembered to pack some cigarettes for Matron did not get too many of her favours or help from her. If Matron was alive today she would have a lot to say as to whether MLMs worked for her. She was Turkish and "bribary" was legal in her culture.

It is one of those questions like "How long is a piece of string?"
