    Oath Keepers Update or history.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

In MSNBC Florida debates, when Romney is asked a question about Ronald Reagan - "will you do for social security what Ronald Reagan did in 1983"- you can hear a voice whisper "raised taxes" and then Romney says "I'm not going to raise taxes, what I'm going to do ..."

This is taken from an article on a blog about E. Steward Rhodes, Founder of Oath Keepers.

    Dirt Rhodes Scholar
Blog of E. Stewart Rhodes, ex-paratrooper, disabled vet, ex-firearms instructor, former Ron Paul staff member, Yale Law grad/Research Scholar, & Montana/Nevada lawyer. Stewart has written for Gerry Spence's The Warrior, for moreliberty.org, writes the Enemy at the Gate column for S.W.A.T. Magazine, and is writing a book on the dangers of applying the laws of war to the American people in the "war on terror." Stewart is NOT a liberal, unless you want to consider him a classical liberal.

Curious as to what brings you to that conclusion? His and Oath Keepers stance on protecting the people from a government if it spins out of control? The fact that he's a lawyer? I have no doubt that the FBI is watching him, but should they be watching him or any other law abiding citizen? What about you?
It seems like in this "industry" common sense is not all that common!

So you are saying that you think the Oath Keepers group is a bunch of law abiding citizens?? I don't know, I read some of the rules and oaths, sounded much like an vigilante group. Perhaps you know more than I do about it Laidback.

I have just recently come across it over in Scamland. What about me?? They would be wasting their time and our money but if so, it is okay.

I also realize we are not supposed to do politics here but this video was in the blog and I found it interesting. I am not supporting any of those debating at present. This is about Oath Keepers and Rhodes.

Far be it from me to agree with many of the nut cases at Adland, I don't bother to go there anymore. I believe the Oath Keepers was conceived along the lines of (Not sure on this) the Accord of Cincinnatus, where the military officers vow that the oath taken ( to protect and defend the constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC) means exactly that, and they will not allow the government to sidestep the provisions of the constitution to maintain control of the citizenry. This is in case a government tries to avoid the provisions of Posse Comitatus, a law that says the military can't be used as a civilian police force. (There are certain exclusions for Coast Guard and National Guard actions). This discussion, while interesting should likely have its own thread.

I agree, I did get a bit off topic with this. We can move it if Admin. thinks it needs to be. I apologize P2P since you started this thread about Scamland, Jill and Andy.

Oath Keepers and Stewart Rhodes Subject

My knowledge of Oath Keepers is very recent but it has been around since Bush second was President. Now this is not about politics just some information I found interesting.

The Daily Bell - Oath-Keeper Stewart Rhodes on the Rise of Authoritarianism and How US Law Enforcement Can Take a Stand for Freedom

Stewart Rhodes: My 2004 paper (available at: Oath Keepers » Blog Archive » Solving the Puzzle of “Enemy Combatant” Status – Stewart Rhodes) addressed the dangerous and unconstitutional Bush Administration claims that the President, as Commander-in-Chief, can have anyone, even American citizens, black bagged and held in military detention and then, if he so chooses, tried by a military tribunal (made up of his hand-picked officers) and executed. Such a practice is a direct violation not just of the right to Grand Jury indictment and jury trial under our Bill of Rights, but also violates the Article III Treason Clause, which very clearly mandates what must be done with Americans accused of making war against their own nation or of aiding the enemy in wartime – they must be tried for treason, in an Article III court, before a jury of their peers, and there must be two witnesses to the overt act or confession in open court before the accused can be convicted and executed. The Bush Administration claimed that the powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief trumped the Bill of Rights, and his lawyers willfully sidestepped the Treason Clause.
I made some comments relating to this in P2P's thread about Scamland and felt it needed a thread separate.

From reading the above statement, this group must be a good thing.
