How dare you close my thread?

I thought this was a website that had principles? Obviously not!

Glimdropper is obviously anti anything that may or may not involve politics, don't you know that the world is run by politicians so whoever you support is ok by me I was just giving my own personal view on a certain individual who I think is obnoxious and should have his brain engaged before he opens his mouth.

There are plenty like him in the uk that need a checkup from the neck up!

So don't be a plank and open the thread you closed.

I agree with you on Romney GOF but glmdropper is expressing the views of the majoity here. It is so easy to make judgements about people because of their political views, that I think it is better to avoid the subject altogether.

I am a floating voter and so was my father. I never make up my mind till the last minute because I miss my father's opinion. I nearly go beserk when people who knew him assume that he was influenced by old Liberal party politics. He thought about things and made up his own mind. He even voted Welsh Nationalist in one election.

He got on like a house on fire with my father in law who read the The Times and the Dailly Worker from cover to cover in an attempt to get a balanced outlook. Liberal Politics and WorldWar1 are not my subject. That really is a niche market for erudite grumpy old farts. Unfortunately not many who went to the trenches are likely to be in the land of the living or fully compos mentis now.

We respect all our posters and love good debate and sparring. But, we elected from day one here not to have a political forum. It gets ways to nasty and heated and is very time consuming and difficult to moderate. It also attracts some posters that are way too colorful and just plain rude for our humble little forum. So, my apologies, but we would rather not host discussions of candidates in the name of peace and harmony.

It's closed not deleted and I am sure that the decision was not personal. You obviously weren't a member of Scam dot com. The political forum there is often a very unpleasant place to be and has caused major rifts between members. Political discussions have their place, but here at Real Scam the only thing that unites the members is their repulsion of fraudulent activity. Some of us have very strong political views (myself included) but if we start airing them on this forum, we will end up having some very serious disagreements with people who we otherwise work well with on the anti fraud front which could make it difficult to continue.

It was agreed from the very beginning not to have a political forum here and which is why those of us who have a lot to say on the subject do keep our views off this forum, however much we would like to express them at times.

Personally I am very glad we don't discuss politics here as I honestly believe it would hurt the board and distract from its purpose

Sorry I did not get here sooner. Please don't leave GOF! Darn why can't a member start a thread and say what is his opinion? We discuss everything else here and honestly the person he is discussing has been involved in scams and hiding money to keep from paying taxes. It is not a political debate and was never intended to be. Why would you risk losing a good member such as JP just because you are so frightful of his discussions and you don't agree with him. This US presidential election will soon be over, thank the Good Lord! It should not be something that would make you drive away a member.

I was not a member of scam.com where LORM says political discussions turned nasty but I did glance at Mary Evelyn Simpson's three page expose on political subjects on Scamlandpro and almost heaved to see the filthy picture of Obama gleefully delivering babies which he intends to murder. It was so nauseating that I do not think I can face going back for another look at her forum threads today. If that is not porn, what is?

I don't even know what devil dodgers are GOF. Is it a new English ideom or an Americanism?

I did go back because I wanted people to see the nauseating way that these manipulators use "dirty pictures" for their political ends.

    Hello Admin,

Those of us who have been here from the beginning are aware of the unwritten rule on political discussions (or the lack of them). A lot of new people have joined the board since then. Perhaps it's time to make a small addition to the forum rules, so that it is clearer and will avoid this kind of problem in the future.

GOF. If you are going to leave because of a political thread being closed on a forum whose purpose is to establish whether schemes are scams or not that is a shame. And no, I am not annoyed, just concerned.

Re: How dare you close my thread?

I apologize for that not being clarified. We respect and enjoy interacting with all the posters here. I hope the lack of a political forum won't cause posters to abandon ship. I will note in the rules that we have no place for such discussions and would prefer not to host them.

    My best to you all!

I am hoping for good news tomorrow. There are far more important things happening in USA than politics. Our news made me shudder and worry about friends on the East Coast. I "pray" for everybody in the area.l

Re: How dare you close my thread?

The news this morning certainly does not look good for the East Coast USA and the most heavily populated areas. Subways could be flooded, blackouts, etc. Now I am happy to live in the central part of States. I have relatives in PA and along the Coast but further South, will be praying for all in harm's way.

Yes, P2P, that forum you mentioned from Scamland is just what I have named them - forums of hate and filth. They will do and say anything at this point.

What are "Devil Dodgers"? I've search for that term and all I got was that it had something to do with being a priest.

Sorry ,English isn't my first language.

It is probably a Northern English expression. We talk about the North/South divide in England as Northerners and Southerners are very different. John is a Northerner from a part of England where they with speak with an accent which is very well known to those of you who have watched the TV series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. They call their women "Pet" and it is very endearing. When John got on the phone to me, one of my cats used to try to locate the person with the lilting voice which was music to a cats ear. She sent him loving messages in "purr"

Poyol may know what it means as he come from that strange part of England. They call dinner "tea" or "high tea" and a sandwich is a "buttie." The women are reputed to extremely dominant. Auf Wiedersehen, Pet was hysterical as the men were all ruled by a clan of coniving wives and girl friends.

It is just how I honestly feel. There are plenty of political forums out there if one wishes to participate in political debate. I dearly love MMA and the UFC but that doesn't belong here either.

Re: How dare you close my thread?

My reason for discouraging political opinions is that people are far too likely to try and read behing the lines and get a totally wrong opinion of a person's motivation from a comment about politics. I have not a clue which way I would vote if we had an election in the UK.

My opinions on American politics are based on novels by John Steinbeck and Irene Shreve. The history of the trade union movement in USA is a precedent which makes me a scam buster. Ordinary people joined forces and broke the power of the ruling corporations. These corporations are are not invincible. The film version of "The Grapes of Wrath" by Steinbeck is just as inspiring. People gave their lives for this ideal and the film is a real tear jerker. I know nothing about American politics but the books stirred my emotions on the subject and I am a member of a loose union of North American scam busters to try and help kill off the scamming scum.
